Otters, once hunted to near-extinction, are now making a comeback in the UK and the chances are good that there is one on a river near you. Usually nocturnal, you have to be lucky to catch a glimpse of one - I've seen one briefly in Batch City Centre during the day, but that was exceptional.

However, I'm lucky to live near a small group of Otters which come out during the day, and I've spent many hours watching these superb animals hunting and playing in the water. While fisherman understandably object to them - Otters can hoover fish up like nothing else -we're gradually learning how to live with these stunning animals.
