Despite centuries of persecution, Hares seem to hold a fascination for many people. Personally, they are one of my favourite animals. Unlike Rabbits, Hares live their lives on open ground, exposed to all weathers and the constant threat of predators. making just a shallow scrape or "form" to rest in.
Wiltshire is one of the best places in the county to see the Brown Hare, but sadly it is also one of the best places to find hare coursers. I've been on the receiving end of buckshot while photographing Hares, and entire fields of the animals have been wiped out by the morons who see chasing these beautiful creatures as "sport".
